We Made It!

So, we made it to Europe! However, not without a few bumps along the way. Starting with the fact that what I consider a "carry-on", the airport clearly does not and made me pay an extra $55 to check it. Not only did I have to pay, but he also made me do my own measurements on the bag just to prove that it was too big and I'm really not that great with math on the spot (or ever). Then, our flight was delayed by 2 hours and we missed our connecting flight. When we reached Frankfurt, we asked almost every person in the airport what we should do (including a police officer who told us he did not work for the airlines-then what good are you in an airport?!) Anyways, we got on the next flight at 10:00 AM and finally arrived at our hostel around 1:00 PM. But check-in is not till 2:00 and we haven't slept in about a day, so we are going to be worthless if we don't get some sleep. It was worth not sleeping on the plane to watch the "Last Song" and "500 Days of Summer." Liz even started dressing like Miley Cyrus with her shirt all cropped up by the time we got to Europe.

BUT I hope this doesn't sound like I'm complaining because so far, Europe is really cool.

Also, I realized what a small world it is. I ran into two people from my church back home at the airport in Frankfurt who were coming back from a vacation in Italy. I also met a German lady on the bus ride to our hostel who asked where we were from and when I told her, she said she had just returned from a trip to Pinehurst. The lesson I learned from that is not to talk to strangers because then she insisted on dragging us around the subway and had no idea where we were even supposed to be going.
